LOCATION

The farm is located northeast of the town of Optima, Oklahoma off of US Highway 54, roughly thirteen miles from Guymon or seven miles from Hooker. Highway 54 is a major trade route running from St. Louis, Missouri all the way to El Paso, Texas. Guymon is the major trade center in the Oklahoma Panhandle, with a population of over 12,000 people. This is the most prosperous agricultural region of the state combining farming, ranching, cattle and hog production. Several cattle feeding facilities call the panhandle home and Seaboard Farms is a major hog producer with multiple production facilities and a packing plant as well. Farmers in this area commonly grow many types of crops including corn, wheat, milo, and cotton.

OPERATIONS

Grounds Farm consists of a total of 480+/- acres of which approximately 124 acres are irrigated farmland and 244.75 acres are enrolled in the CRP program. The annual FSA payment is $2,914 and the CRP contract pays $8,847 annually expiring in 2020. There are three irrigation wells and two domestic wells with a Zimmatic sprinkler system consisting of seven towers and drops and is nozzeled at 450 gpm.

The cattle facilities include 6,000 feet of concrete bunk space and pads, 50’ x 50’ processing barn with a hydraulic chute, a 45 x 24 office, set of truck scales, and a set of cattle scales. The facility also includes a mill facility with a molasses storage tank, and an insulated fat storage tank. There is also a large pit for storing silage. Two domestic water wells service the feed yard.

IMPROVEMENTS

A 7,800 square foot Victorian style home represents the main house. A red ceramic tile roof accentuates the elegance of this country home. When you add the veranda, the spacious balcony, and a beautiful landscaped yard, you have country living at its finest. Entering in the large double front doors, you are greeted with marble floors, spacious rooms, and wonderful woodwork. There are two large living areas on the main floor, one with a beautiful fireplace. Entertaining will be a breeze with two eating areas and a kitchen with Subzero refrigerator and freezer.
